The name of this cathedral has been concealed to protect it. Allegedly, permission can be obtained to see the inside of it, but if you choose not to go this route and attempt it without permission, you may find yourself setting off alarms. Please do not contact us for information about this location, as there isn’t much we know about it.

For years, I’d been aware of the existence of this extraordinarily gorgeous cathedral, due to it having been used as a filming location for one of my favorite movies, but I was not aware that it was not in use. You could just imagine my excitement when I learned of this.

I know very little about this cathedral other than it was built in 1857, it has one of the largest organs of its type in the country, and the beautiful rose stained glass window on its front was made by the same artist who created the windows of the North Cathedral in Washington. I am also unsure of when it closed its doors, although I know that there have been talks about a rehabilitation for many years now.

In the 1990’s it was featured in a big screen movie by a well-known New Jersey film director, which has made it a pilgrimage destination for many fans of this director. I do believe I’ve given you enough details about this location for you to do some Google-fu and find out its identity for yourself if you’re interested to find out which movie it was.

I last saw this cathedral about two and a half years ago, and the sanctuary had been stripped bare of the pews and other adornments characteristic to a place of worship. There was evidence that workers had recently been there, but to this day, I’ve heard nothing else of this rehabilitation. I actually do hope something is done with it, since it’s a beautiful old building with stunning architecture and it would be a shame to leave it in ruins.
