Status: Unknown Alright, alright. Don’t get excited. I didn’t call this one the “Poltergeist House” because I know for a fact it’s haunted or have even heard it’s haunted. There’s an even more amusing story behind it. Some friends and I, while looking for something else, stumbled across this little abandoned shack at the end of an overgrown driveway back in the woods. Since our initial mission was a failure, we decided to go back there and check it out. We took some photos of the exterior and then decided we should check out the inside. Boy, were we in for a surprise! When we entered through the door, we could see that whoever owned it left without their belongings–couches, clothing, furniture, and all sorts of things were piled almost as high as the ceiling. Before we even noticed this, we noticed a strange noise coming from within the house. It sounded almost like static, like on a television set. Our first thoughts were, “Oh no! Someone lives here!”, but honestly, who could live in such messy conditions? My friend tiptoed in first and disappeared into a far room. A few seconds later, I saw him motion for me to come forward. He showed me the source of the noise–it was a television set that was ON. The picture tube was blown, but it was making that noise that televisions make when there’s fuzz on the screen. So, yes, this house had power. The nicest part about it? It was about 70 degrees while it was in the 40’s outside. It was good to take a nice, warm break from our excursion. That’s all, folks. - Ember, 2003 |
