Status: Maintained I’m not sure what it is about the Deckertown Union Cemetery, but it’s definitely got a feel to it. Most of it is old, overgrown with weeds and ivy, and situated on a very steep hill. Many of the 1800s era stones are crumbling, broken, or not even standing anymore. Also, when one visits this cemetery, it’s very important to be careful when walking. There are many large holes and dips in the ground, some where the coffins lie and others unmarked. This could be because the stones have long since gone missing. This cemetery contains nothing else worth noting, but it definitely deserves a place here. - Ember, 2003 |
